James Nicholas Dumile Goddard is an Ndebele-Canadian sound artist, curator, arts administrator, and experimental saxophonist, he currently resides and works in Montréal, QC. His work delves into themes surrounding race, speculation, and economics. He performs solo under the moniker skin tone, utilizing saxophone, voice, mbira, and electronics to explore possible futures, reclaim erased histories, and evoke the essence of free jazz with both spiritual and harsh undertones. Additionally, he collaborates in duos such as Aspirateur & Platitudes and contributes to the Egyptian Cotton Arkestra. His professional background spans community radio, concert promotion, and non-profit administration.
